Philadelphia is a consumer's dream come true, as there is
more shopping to be done here than you could ever imagine.
The city has a wealth of stores, all of which cater to the
finicky shopping needs of all of us.
The main shopping district is located on Walnut Street where
it intersects 17th Street, and continues in both directions from
there. There is also Jewelers' Row, a pricey but
indispensable collection fine jewelers, on Sansom Street between
Seventh and Eighth Street. You can find over three hundred
separate retailers in that location alone.
As far as malls are concerned, the Gallery at Market East,
located right off of Chestnut Street, is the first indoor
shopping mall in a major city. It sprawls across five
whole blocks and has everything you could possibly be looking
for, from clothing to toys to a mid-afternoon snack.
Discount shopping hits a fever pitch at the Franklin Mills
Mall. There are over two hundred stores waiting for your
discount dollar, including some very big names such as Saks
Fifth Avenue and Ann Taylor. Lots of fin.
Broad Street is also a great place to spend money.
Risqué shoppers would do well to visit Condomnation, while the
leather-clad punk crowd should stop in at Zipperhead to get some
patches or something.
As you can see, Philadelphia has more shopping than you could
shake a gold-plated stick at, and the following links will take
you to some valuable pages we've compiled containing useful
information.
